Hi
I came cross this site during my search for accounting software for automatically read data from your contract notes for maintaining books of account. It is directshares.in . They have a fully functional demo version . Has anyone tried it ? They seem to have option to read data from contract notes of most of the brokers

I am right now testing the software demo of directshares.in and it supports import of Zerodha DCN without issues.

Appreciate feedback from current/past paid users of Directshares.in. Thanks in advance for your time and reply. Thanks

Based on testing the demo version of directshares, i was extremely satisfied with it. So i went ahead and activated the licensed version by paying for lifetime license.

I have imported around 450+ DCN's from all my brokers(IDirect, Zerodha and IDBICapital) which have been with lying with me since 2007 in my gmail.

For older transactions with IDirect, have used the tradebook to import the data.

I learnt a lot about taxation matters from this thread http://www.traderji.com/taxation-ma...x-related-quieries-i-would-get-solved-17.html.

Since then, I have been in search of a good software after reading this post and tried to use tally but without success.

Finally i found about Directshares based on a posting in this forum.

As a user of Directshares software, I am very happy with the quality of software and support provided by the team behind it. They actually upgraded the software by adding support to Idbicapital DCN's based on my request.

Eventhough i'm in no way related to them, i'm writing about the software so that more traderji members use it and benefit from it.

I tried the demo version. Was planning to buy. Decided to delay n look at other options.

Software seems decent but with a learning curve. UI is quite technical...could have been easier to use, but then I have found that software developers many times over complicate things.

One word of caution though for the new buyer. It is a software that is based on Oracle XE. Free edition of XE used by the developer is available for 32 bit windows only. Developer says that they have tested on 64 bit n it worked, but in my case they failed to run it on my PC. It may install but upgrades n data loss at upgrade time is a distinct possibility for a nontechnical user. I bought a 64 bit licence of Windows specifically for trading and now if I use this software I have to get a second computer for accounting with 32 bit windows or convert my trading PC to a slower 32 bit install.

But feature wise, its a decent software.
