Tax on FDs

Hi,

How is income tax calculated on income from fds? Are they taxed at flat rate or depending on the tax slab you are in? Also, are long term fds tax exempted?

Ya taxed according to slabs

There are tax free fds with 5 years lock in.But no point going for it for such long tenure.As interest rate might go up and it can nullify the effect.
