Capital gain summary statement for broker?

#1
Hi All,

Wanted to know if the trading Brokerage firm (in my case Reliance Money) will give the summary of the capital gain (short and long term) for the financial year 2009-10 that you made from stock trading.

I mean will they send across summarize the total gain/loss for the financial year (as they would have all the details regarding stock traded/losses/gains etc) which I could use to file for my IT Returns.

Or do we by ourself calculate the gain/loss from trading for the entire financial year which would be a bit tedius esspecially if you are a short term investor.

Thanks in advance.

No, none of these brokerage give cumulative profit/loss.
Save the CONTRACT NOTES carefully.
Enter these Contract notes daily without fail in softwares like INVESTINVEST, from Chennai, you will have to buy it Approx Rs 1500 only. for details go to their site www.investworld or www.investinvest.com
Even ET ECONOMIC TIMEShave got a free online software at their site.
These softwares will give u accurate P/L.

why dont brokers provide Profit and Loss report when intraday traders have to calculate profit/loss at end of day. The traders require net profit. net profit is profit after brokerage and taxes..

As far as I know, brokerages like Indiabulls atleast give a summary of transactions every quarter so that helps somewhat.
