am being charged stt rate of 0.125% of the value of call excersised(strike price + premium ). thts funny if if u settle its charges at .017% and that too at premium.funny and I dont knw why. .Any views of the above
Though I would not like to be taxed more. I have been through the same.
I think the logic behind it is that when you exercise the option you are actually buying the underlying at that particular rate and then it becomes a kind of delivery transaction which has higher STT rates and
hence the rate = strike price + premium
