Post Nri Pan Card - Options which do i choose?

Hi All,

This might have been asked before. Please excuse me.

I'm currently working in Singapore and i need to get a PAN card.

Option 1.
I can apply for the PAN card in India Via my relatives, i have checked with them what they are saying is

A. send a Signed blank copy of the form49A, the forms will be filled as per my passport address and Representtaive Assessee name etc,
but they will be filling my source of Income as Others instead of stating as salaried employee, as i don' work in India now they told me that for the company name they can only fill up local India company name not overseas company name. I don't want want be caught in the wrong.

B. For the AO code they will use the Local AO code as per passport address, will this create any problem for future as i have NRI Bank accounts and Planning to start investing in MF and Stocks, i'm worried about the tax implications if i apply for PAN card through my relatives.

Option 2.
I can also apply online via https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/form49A.html
which AO code do i use to fill up the form49A for Singapore,
i cannot find the AO code for Singapore. Please let me know the AO code to used.

This is a longer route as i need to get the passport and Bank statements attested from Indian high commission, but i will be able to fill up the overseas company name. the website is a bit strange i have tried to do a Dummy data test on the page, what ever option i had chosen for the part where it says documents attached after submitting on the final page with the Invard numbers generated it always appears as Copy of voters Identity card for both proof of address and Identity!!!!, even though i choose Passport for identity and Bank Statement for Address proof, so if i were to print and submit this form it would be wrong for sure, i hope nsdl will fix this problems. For today whole day the website is down

which of option should i choose to apply for the PAN card.

Thanks for your time. Please advice.

Ram

Hello, If you agents likes ShareKhan, Bonaza Online, Geojit Securities over there they can help you out.
I remember when you do it online, it says you if you are NRI, select by default AO code, so need not to worry.
If you are in doubt then tell your relatives in India, address doesnt mind, you can change later and in case if it happends to return your file on PAN card, actually money will go from ur NRI account so I dont see any issue,if you are address is of India/abroad.
