That's a systemic risk associated with any delivery based trading; non-delivery (intraday) trading also has it's own risks.

That is why i think the pullback (following the spike) is important. One should only enter those stks that make a subsequent pullback rather than chasing the ones that go on to make a parabolic upmove (which in all probability would be short lived). The pullback will also give you a better SL level.

Am i right Winstonn?

U do not seem to have responded to this vital question .

So I ask again ... on his behalf as well .. why havn't u backtested .

And if you plan to do that, dont miss out the May / June period last year. See this, as a guide http://finance.*****.com/charts#char...urce=undefined

Don't take this as a joke , but I have a strong feeling that your model would have worked perfectly for that period if you had short sold on some of those mondays and covered on the following fridays !!

I have a feeling that your feeling is right
No reason why it shouldn't work both ways.

In fact this method (coupled with a few oscillators) could work in ranging mkts as well when trend trading wouldn't work (that's the main reason for my interest in it).

Kalyan.

Kalyan , my friend .... u missed my point

What happens if one buys on a Monday and then realises the market has entered that May/June kind of phase

Winstonn's method needs such a disclaimer

Are u with me ?

Hi agilent,

The system accpets stocks which have gained 10% and above on thursdays.
When the may fall started , were there 10% gainers with heavy volume?????????

Then i always have said in this thread that the calls are on forward testing...... And i never said that system is back tested. So , i had put a Disclaimer. However, you and all friends would help this method improve with some filtering......And possibly the experts can back test it.

I would like to improve this method.
Any member if find a good filter , please discuss it openly as we all want to take advantage!!!!!

Again i beleive the Indian market is mega long term growth story......good years are still to come.....why not set aside emotions and build a mechanical system with some filters which wil make money.

I look forward from all you members to add back tested filters to make this system a better world to earn money.

thanxs
winston

Aha ... get it now!

Could happen to any method though. Like if i bought ROLTA near a 52 Wk high (expecting a brkout) on Monday & mkts started tanking from Tuesday i would not only be trapped - but trapped at a very high level
Every trading method has an element of Market Risk associated with it (that's why it's necessary to have one eye on the mkt & the other on stks).

However since Winstonns method specifically mentions Monday & Friday as buy and sell date (and someone may be naive enough to adhere strictly to the trading rules irrespective of mkt conditions) the system does warrant the disclaimer you've proposed.

Also in mid & small cap stocks a SL isn't always a full-proof protection as these stocks often have a tendency to gap down during a steep fall.

Regards,
Kalyan.
