NTPC is an established company with power generation capcity around 27000 MW and co. plans to increase it to 50000 MW by 2012.
It is available at attractive valuations in comparision to it's peers.
Even if u consider it for dividend it shall fetch u around 32% dividend in a year which is what u get if u park your money in a bank saving account.
if nuclear deal takes place this company shall be benefitted.
If this stock falls bellow 190 rs. purchase more and reduce your avg. price.

I am a tyro to share trading and now a days I am doing research on intraday trading. I have now bought 80 shares of NTPC and I think this share has very bright future. Now adays there are some ups and down but in coming 3-5 months this share will cross 250 so it is rit time to buy this share now this share is available @190. So one can buy more shares of this company even if you are looking to make short time money.

I dont agree it's a short term bet.
Its a nav ratna psu stock.
what goes against it is the govt. which distributes electricty free to garner votes.
NTPC is made to give power at subsidized rate to state elecricity boards to compensate their losses.
this and next year are election years (state and assemblies) stock is not a short term bet.
