For the study of technical analysis I would recommend you to stick to the BSE Sensex.

I can't help wondering. You told me Nifty for the backtesting analysis on system tester. Is this a different analysis?

If you would like to study technical analysis then the Sensex is better because it shows up the gaps, etc.

If you want to backtest, the Nifty is better as it is the one you would trade in the futures market.
