If someone here know the formula to calculate advance/decline ratio, we all can provided this here on traderji on daily basis or can start a group for this. A software can be developed to calculate the ratio. Regards, K S Kachhwaha |

it's a wonderful gesture on your part for the offer to develop a software / add the feature to your software. formulae for calculation of ADR is not difficult. there are a few ways of calculating it. 1) advances - declines 2) (advances - declines) / (advances + declines) and a few more methods. the second one is a normalised format and will give values between -1 & +1. any normalised format is preferable as it gives a levelbase for comparision of diffirent sectors / industries. but what is difficult is the identification of sectors and stocks that belong to that sector. there are quite a few classifications and many of them are not complete. an effort is being made by some members in this forum to identify the sector / industry for each stock on NSE that will enable TA studies sectorwise / industrywise. when such a list is made available in the forum, you may use that list and to prepare a sector-wise / industry-wise advance decline ratios. but in any case, such an assignment file may be saved in a user editable file, so that users may be allowed to modify the sector / industry groupings. thanks again.
