yStock - Realtime Charts & EOD downloads

#1
Dear fellow traders,

I learned a lot from this forum, especially Saint's threads. Inspired by the works/contributions of jdm, cooltetra, pkjha30, satya, ....to name a few, also soumya_b's FiboTrader, I started developing yStock. Of course this is a freeware, and source-code will be given to selected members.

Features:-
  • MDI interface,
  • Multiple WatchLists (any symbol that yahoo supports),
  • Multiple Charts including Intraday (all yahoo parameters, configurable)
  • Data download - NSE & BSE
Download:-
System Requirements :-
Windows2000 and above, with 128mb ram
IE & Internet Connection ;-)

Notes:-
Support files should be installed to the same directory as yStock directory.
You should be logged on to yahoo finance website, with "Remember password" option turned on, to get realtime NSE quotes in your watchlist.
It is written in PowerBuilder10, using yahoo for quotes & charts.

Please check out the attached screen shots of initial version.
Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards
Siva, Kuwait.

hi siva,
thnks for releasing your application, which, once the teething troubles are attended, will be the most sought after.

i was very much impressed with the screen shots attached to your earlier posts and also the very basic system requirements. this application must be compatible with the systems of almost all users.

while on the subject, i join jdm with a somewhat similar experience.

my OS is Win98SE with IE 6.0.

i have unzipped ysupp.msi and yApp.zip into the folder:

C:\...............\PowerBuilder\
Power builder client Runtime is found in the installed applications.

while trying to run the application, i get the errors:

1) Error 1904. Module ..........\PowerBuilder\pbjvm100.dll failed to register. HResult - 2147024865. contact your support personnel.

2) The pbshr100.dll file is linked to missing Export KERNEL32.DLL setFilePointerEx. ( my kernel32.dll is in C:\windows\system folder and of version 4.10.2222.

when i tried to run the yStock.exe, i get the error
3) A Device attached to the system is not functioning.

you may advice, if i have to do anything further.
if any other information is required, i can provide.

all the best.

Dear all,

Here is an update to yStock app (82kb), it is version 1.0.0.2 :D
  • AutoRefresh timer now in seconds
  • WatchList config
  • Print Watchlists & Charts
And coolguru, thanks for your interest in yStock, please give me some more info abt the error. I am not doing any data input validation at this moment. As for a new watchlist, presently a limit, name can be 15chars and symbols 1000 chars. Is that causing the error? let me know.

Hi inxsofme,

Thanks for your feedback. As i mentioned inthe initial post, you have to download & install the supporting files to the same directory as yStock. Here is the link (again :) ) :- http://rapidshare.de/files/25627865/ysupp.msi.html

Hope this helps

Regards
Siva
