dear siva,

thanks for the very useful intraday quote retreival freeware for selected stocks.

i observed the following and request your review.

1) in the chart window, if i have selected an indicator and used for some time, and later decided not to have ANY indicator, i am not able to deselect. please look into.

2) while i am able to get the stock charts as selected by me, i am not able to get the index charts as selected by me. i am getting only the selected indicator and no price chart.

please look into and corrcet/ advice me as required.

You may add multiple indicators by using the "Insert" key on your keyboard.
The same way, you may delete indicators by using the "Delete" key.
BTW, these microhelp are shown in the status bar of the chart window, is it confusing?

For me also . On further checking, found out that Intrady & 5day charts are not working in Yahoo Fin site also. I tried ^NSEI , ^BSESN. And again, in a particular sequence it will work in Yahoo Fin ;-). It seems that, the url is different for stock indices.
As a workaround, try using in combination with another index. For eg; ^BSESN vs ^NSEI , without volume overlay. It will work,

Hope this helps.

Siva

I too was struggling to find something for this. Actually had never seen metastok so was not aware of what the format looks like. I thought it to be some kind of ascii file which i considered, not difficult.
Recently got a chance to look at metastock files. Have googled and found Metalib (a shareware) that can help here.

Best Regards
Coool.

Thanks cool, i knew about metalib. Trial version is for 14 days, $200 for commercial use, and $50 for private use. As i am developing yStock as a freeware, i am not planning to buy, unless someone else contribute . By the time, I will prepare myself using the trial version, and wait for that contribution.

Hi Siva,

First of all I would like to thank you...

I am facing certian issues...I am not able to download bse eod data...

Why we have to specify symbols for BSE (unlike NSE)?

yes, you are right. the microhelp at the status bar is informative. now i could load all the indicators and overlays also. and you are giving the 1 Month charts also, which yahoo india site does not give. for a short term investor, 1 month chart is usful.

this may be a limitation with the source, but we have to understnd the limitation well.

further i observed that 'at times', (3times yesterday), i found that the stock quoted are delayed by about 15 mins compared to index quotes/ system time for some substancial periods. subsequently, they came ino synchronisation.

i feel that this could be loss of connectivity of yahoo india with their live source. at that time, how the data would have been, if we aquired the data from yahoo USA? just a query, you too may make observations in this direction. if results are encouraging, we may have a soft-swith when we have a problem with their india server.

the EOD data module of yStock for NSE & BSE need lot of improvisation. as we have already have other sw for NSE/BSE EOD data, working stably, it may be avoidable duplication. Instead, you may concentrate on Intraday data compatible with TA software (Metastock).

hope you will agree.

all the best.

Dear amangargi,

Thanks for the feedback.
Please quote the version number in your reply, this will help me a lot.

There is no BSE EOD download option in yStock ver 1.2 build 34, but BSE BackFIll option is there. For that, Yes, you have to specify BSE symbols, each symbol separated by 'Enter' key. It is stored in a separate text file named 'symbols.txt', in the same folder. Either you may directly edit it or using yStock.

Hope this helps.

yStock updates on next version :-
BSE Intraday download option, done.
Column auto-resize in wathlists, done.
Column coloring based on the price movements, done.
Downloader automation using commandline parms, testing..

Regards
Siva

great to see the highlights of next version.
you may think of providing the option to 'reuse' the chart window as a user selectable option in the chart preferences with facility to save like other options. when the option is selected, the previous chart will be replaced by the new chart.

all the best.
