thanks for your response, subsequently, i have swithed over to win xp and office xp and am able to install (ver 1002) & use your application. it's working well without major issues.

i have a few observations.

1) on the running application, i do not find the version no i am using. if you add this, it will help users and yourself while needing support.

2) the column selection feature may have a provision to 'move' the order of the columns. can you add 'drag' n 'drop' feature for the columns? did i ask too much?

3) presently the selected columns save to the current watch list only. you may add an additional button to save to all watch lists.

4) while selecting the columns ( 52_week_range), i got the error reproduced below:

dear sir,....sorry for giving u trouble i have downloaded y supp as told by siva, while WHILE INSTALLING YSUPP.MSI IAM GETTIG ERROR ....the wnindows installer service could not be accessed Thic can be occured if u r runninhg windows in safe mode or if the windows installer is not correctly installed contact your support personel for assistance...........iam using windows xp..and this is first time i have got this type of error..really confused what to do..opls help as i am new to comp ..as u r also using this software thats why i called u ..pls help in solving out ......thanks a lot .............

i could not provide a sure shot technical answer to your query. the developer of the program is the right person to give you the correct answer. what i can only add here is that, you may have to log-in with administrative previliges, to install the software. please have patience, siva will be too happy to answer your query.

as you said, you are not familiar with the computer technologies very much, you may take the help of a local friend of yours with the required knowledge for the installation.

4. Because the column name start with a number, this is fixed in ver1.0.0.5. Error logging can be added.

In order to dynamically create watchlist-columns based on user selection, i need a db connection. So using ystock.mdb just for issuing an SQL SELECT statement, there is no tables in ystock.mdb, and not storing any data to ystock.mdb. MS Access installtion not required, but the MS Access ODBC driver is necessary, i think it comes with windows.

Regarding makems29, I installed this on my vmvare win2003 test pc, but after installtion, the application is not starting at all, no error messages. Did you try makems29? Is it working?

Is MetaStock supporting CSV file downloads? Please check it out.

And about ms format, i googled for this format and conversion utilities, i couldnt find any. So i doubt i can do it. I am glad, if any experienced seniors can help on this subject. Nothing much in the MetaStock section of this forum too

In this version, i tried to address all of the suggestions by murthymsr, except error logging.

Updates in this version:-

WatchList : Selected Columns will be applied to all watchlists on next manual/auto refresh.
No internet connection : RefreshTimer will be disabled after 5 attempts
Chart parms : added option to Compare with another symbol, eg: Reliance vs Nifty. So we will have stock chart till 15 min back with the superimposed Nifty chart live. This will give you the market direction in the last 15 mins (credit to murthymsr for this tip).
Chart config : added Set as default option, so the user can set chart preferences.
RefreshTimer : Timer is set to 1 minute & enabled by default.
NSE EOD/BSE BackFill file formats : added support for Excel, Excel5, Excel8, Tab delimited text and XML, plus CSV by default. I hope MetaStock downloader will support one of these Excel formats.
Remember Settings : Last opened WatchList, default Chart Settings, WatchColumns
Error Logging: System error logging.

Since the data is from *****, the charts displayed would have a time lag of 15 minutes. Is there a way to get real time charts.

Thank you Amit for your comment.

As i am depending on *****, no workaround till now for stock charts. But index charts from ***** are realtime. Also the stock quotes. If you know any other FREE realtime datasource, please share it here.
