BSE multiple scrips EOD Data Downloader V1.0 (Year 1991 to Current Date)

Dear friends,

Here is a small utility I created based on jdm's tool which I am sure will help most of us in not paying for EOD data of BSE to multiple sellers. Just pick the stocks you want to download data from the BSE symbol list file and enter them in the downloader and hit Go and watch the files being created one by one. This will download data of multiple scrips at one shot and creates individual files in a format which can be used by many trading softwares I hope.

About the Downloader :

What does it do ?
Downloads historical data from BSE site and creates scrip wise files in the same directory.

How can I use it?
Enter multiple stocks in Download sheet, and download EOD data from 1991 till date

What is format of data extracted?
The format of the data is Stock Code, OPEN, HIGH, LOW, CLOSE, VOLUME. Most trading softwares have this format. If you want a custom format, please let me know, I will try.

Can I configure the dates?
Not yet. Will come in the next versions. Comon you have data from 1991. You can delete unwanted data can't you?

Will I get password for the source code?
Not yet as per request from jdm to maintain privacy. If 15 people say its not a problem and jdm agrees I am willing to share the password.

How many stocks can I download at one time?
Actually no limit. I have tested for 50 symbols and it took 2 minutes. I would not want to test for 100 stocks but you could. Please don't enter 1500 stocks and expect it to do download in 60 minutes. Afterall it depends on your PC power and internet connection also.

Have you tested it?
Yes to some extent but not on all versions and absolutely no responsibilities for any adverse effects. Use at own risk.

Are the macro's safe?

Yes and I can vouch for it.

Can we ask changes/requests?

Yes and No. No guarantee they will be implemented and no guarantee on the timelines, but I will do my best.

What is the data source ?

BSE India website.

Can I use the PC while this is downloading?

Yes ofcourse. But please do not open new excel files or open created excel files while the macro is running.

I have a MAC or Linux OS can I use it?
I am not sure and please let me know if you used it and it was successful.

Hi! Satish,

The spreadsheet works like a dream.

Just one request ...

Instead of getting separate sheets for "each" symbol, would it be possible
to get separate sheets "date wise" for "all symbols"

Basically, like the EOD bhavcopy that we download everyday. That would be truly valuable. Or am I asking for too much?

hi,
great work on a great work
i mean a great hands on jdms utlity.
the sheet is great but always download all data.
my i peak it further in order to to get the data by day selection.
if you and jdm doesnt have any problem then please share the password with me. the password will be kept personal and wont be shared with anyone.
the utility may take a week of development and will be available to you first in order to check for any bugs. you and jdm may publish it. i am not intersted in publishing personaly. i need it in order to use it for personal trading.

really a pretty small software with beautiful wings. i am late in knowing about the software.

Could any one, well-wisher of satish, tell me - whenever I download data of any scrip, it downloads data upto 01.01.2008 - why ?

Hi Satish,

EOD Data Downloader is very useful. But, it seems it is fetching data upto 01-01-08, which means almost 10 months outdated and all price information against the scrips are at peak. Where as you know there have been lot of changes in the prices recently.

Is there any way that we can get the data with the help of above software as of today (Upto Last Trading day).
