Description
Dr. Tharp designed the "Secrets of the Masters™" Trading Game to help you learn the secrets to trading success before you trade the markets. This game totally de-emphasizes entry or "stock picking" and instead requires that you focus on the most important aspects of trading—Position Sizing™ and letting your profits run. Our new game has ten levels that get progressively more difficult to master. However, once you’ve mastered these principles, you’ll know you’ve mastered some of the key skills to trading success. Hi,
I would like to first thank CV for the link. Actually I have downloaded the game and was trying to get through level one. I found that I dont exactly understand the concept of R multiples. How is it relevant in the real market, in the sense that we know how much we lose because we put a stop loss, but how can anyone be sure of the potential profits and what is meant by a 5R loser ? If the number of shares is 100 and my stop loss is 1 dollar below the entry point, how can I lose 500 dollars even if the probability of that happening is only 5% ? Secondly, if I am following the most popular money management principles, I should not risk more than 1 or 2 % of my capital on any one trade. So that actually kind of fixes the R multiple isnt it ? Thirdly, can the stop loss or risk for each trade be predetermined in real life without taking into account what stock I am talking about ? I assumed that the stocks which have greater swings require a more liberal stop loss than ones which trade in a narrow range and the trade size to be adjusted accordingly. So what exactly does the game try to teach ? I myself know that I sound terribly naive, but then since I can't figure it out anyway, I guess I have to ask. Will be really grateful for some clarifications. Thanks and regards, Snowy. |
