The format clearly shows that last part 182006182006 is (day, month, year)(day, month, year), but if you use it directly, it comes with error. However, if you go to the site, and query it and then come back and again use this format it will work.

I am trying to find something other, if anyone knows it, please help.

Hi Cool

The answer is contained in your question

Query the website with first url but don't save that data. Query the site again with the url in the format above with csv appended.

I am using that to download indices data.
If you want the full function pm me

Hi cooltetra

I am new entrant to this thread. I just downloaded your both excel sheets, after going thru' gap trading strategies. But I am facing compatibility problem as I am using Excel 97 on 98SE operating system. Only 'Prepare Sheet' Button in 'NSE Data' sheet of CoolIntra1.1.xsl is working. But all other buttons in both files are returning runtime error no '1004'. I tried to debug but all macros are share/password protected. Can you give me the pasword for the code to solve myself. Or make them compatible to work on Excel 97. Thanks in Advance for the sheets.

Bye Raj

You should have a compatible version soon.(Next weekend hopefully).

Hello Rajeev

The sheet that you shared with me worked like a charm. I started it around 12 noon yesterday and could get both the indices till 3.20/22 pm (had a power trip around that time, inspite of the ups). I could connect, the excel sheet to FCharts but was not able to do so with AB.

Great going buddy.

Regards
Sanjay

The original first post of this Thread

I have assembled an excel sheet that can prove useful to get details for scrip price action during the trading hours. I use it for the GAP trading strategy.

For gap trading strategy visit http://www.stockcharts.com/..Strategies1.html

The original post referring to the sheet is at http://www.traderji.com..oops-sorry-4.html.

This is kind of repetition post, but I think will look more appropriate in this software section.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
About the excel sheet and it's compatibility

The excel sheet is not using any third party component. The only component that I have used is Microsoft WebBrowser component which I think should be available with all Microsoft Windows/Internet explorer user. This component is used to display charts for the scrips. If this causes problem, we can think of some alternatives.
The excel works fine on Windows XP. However, If we have any compatibility issue, with the help of you all, we will find some work arround.

We will be downloading some 100 KB of data every morning. For me it takes less than a minute to be ready for the day. Those working with Dialup may face some delays.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I am including the "Read Me First" part, which I have put as the first sheet. Please consider it as the Disclaimer too.

Read Me First
For the Day
You must be logged in to yahoo to get the Real time Detail. Otherwise, the quotes are delayed by 15 minutes.
The Refresh button gets the latest data as of the current time.

For the first time, use the Refresh button on master sheet to get the previous trade day data. Currently we have the data as of 2 June 2006. The other set of data under previous day is some manipulated data. Do not use it for any real trading use.. Run it around 10:05 to get the details of the opening price details for the day assuming that you have already logged in. If you dont have Yahoo ID, or dont want to log in, use it after 10:15 AM.
The Gap button compares the opening price with the previous days OHLC to decides on the gaps. Gapped sheet contains only Full Gap up or Down list.
The Chart sheet can be used to see real time chart(its delayed by 15 mins even if your are logged in) by selecting the scrip from the combo box. Currently it only allows to look for full gapped scrip. This is not a limitation. Its my personal preference to see only the one that have gapped up or down. If the general view is to get charts of all, I will modify it accordingly.

Legends

Higher than prev day last but lower than prev high -------> partial up gap ---> PU
Higher than prev day high --------------------------------> full gap up ------> FU
Lower than prev day Last but higher than prev day low ---> partial low gap --> PL
Lower than prev day low ----------------------------------> full gap down ----> FL

Preparing for the next Day
Copy today's data over to the previous”previous” day data. Use the Copy2Prev button.

Note:
The Master sheet has the details of most of the scrip traded on NSE. It is not all.
HW/SW Requirements:
The sheet has been developed on Windows XP/ Excel 2000. I have not tested it on any other configuration. But, it should work fine on all windows platform.

Disclaimer
I have not cross checked all the data that is returned by the code. Error handling is at the least. You should believe the data provided at your own risk.
The sheet can get stuck if you do not have access to the internet connection and try to refresh data.
I assure you that there is no malicious virus embeded. However please run your virus scanner.

Please note that the attachment here is different from the one in the original post which includes some of suggestions from Murthy.

Check it today to get a feel of what information you could have at the start of the day.

I had to use WinRar as it provides greater compression. In case you don't have winrar, you may download the same from http://www.rarlab.com/

Please do provide your comments.

Best Regards
Coool.
