Patternz - Chart Pattern Recognition Software

Patternz is a Windows based program that automatically finds chart patterns. It has these features:

1. Finds 64 unique chart patterns (see Formations Form)
2. Scans files to find patterns and lists results (see List Form)
3. Allows up to 9 criteria to select chart patterns for performance (radio
buttons on List Form)
4. Highlights support and resistance (SAR button on Chart Form)
5. Sorts selected chart patterns to highlight most recent patterns found
6. After finding patterns, data can be placed on the clipboard or Excel for
analysis (see List Form)
7. Tells why a pattern was not recognized (the Why Not? button)
8. Tells about tested chart patterns, including failure rates and performance
tips (the Tell button)
9. Calculates a volatility stop for both up and down breakouts (the Volatility
button)
10. Calculates pivot points, S1, R1, S2 and R2 (see the Probability button)
11. Calculates a Fibonacci retrace for swing trading (see the Retrace button)
12. Calculates the probability of a price trend continuing (see the Probability
button)
13. Has trendline support – click and drag the mouse (see the Chart Form)
14. Volume ticks show pattern end points, which helps with volume trend and
shape analysis.
15. Watch lists allow important securities to be found quickly and easily

Database Building & Updation Process:-
Those who have Metastock can easely build database & update the EoD data into Patternz.

To build Patternz database
a. Open Metastock Downloader
b. Export historical data to a folder in ASCII format.

To update Patternz
1. Run Patternz.
2. Click on File Format
3. Check and configure the following:
4. 01 Date
5. 02 Open
6. 03 High
7. 04 Low
8. 05 Close
9. 06 Volume
10. How many columns does the file use? 6
11. Check Enable
12. Select the date format (usually Standard) suitable for your country
13. Save changes.
14. Open Metastock Downloader->Convert
15. Source
File Type: ASCII text
Browse the EoD data file
(The format should be: symbol,date,open,high,low,close,volume).
16. Destination
File Type: ASCII text
Select the Patternz database folder.
18. Options->Periodcity: Daily
->Click on Destination tab->Fields to output: only
check these boxes
Date, Open, High , Low, Close, Volume
19. OK
20. OK

Just Curious... Have you tried it? and what are results looking like ?

I have downloaded the patternz software. It is asking for a vbx file named msmasked.vbx without which it can not open. Can you suggest me how it can be downloaded. Upon searching in google it led me to a site but i can not down load from the site since the page does not open. or else can you load it to traderji forum.

i tried to install patternz on my system. says vbrun300.dll not found. downloaded from dllfiles.com, but still coundn't succeed.

you might have already installed on your system. if you can make a step-by-step installation notes from the help file, it may help many, including me.

hope you can lead other members through, as with fibotrader.

by the way, the other content at the download link provided is very interesting too.

good!
i think any software in the world can not accurately find any pattern.
Patternz just help u to sort out the pattern like situation from thousands
of stocks then it is your tern to find the actual one.
the site is much worth than the software.

if your system is running on XP then don't bother to install. just unzip it.

I am also facing the same problem. I got the vbrun300.dll file through the net and installed it. after that it asked for msmasked.vbx file which i could not get through the net. I can not upload vbrun300.dll file since the file is of 225kb in size which can not be uploaded here. I am uisng windowsxp professional as operating software. according to sowmya b patternz is working fine in windows xp.

Hello,

Ths software works well in Windows Xp (SP2). I had installed it. Follow the instructions given by soumya and also carefully read the read me file(text doc) in the Zip file when you unzip the Pattern Exe.file. Since the date format may be different for different users the read me file has some solutions to the problem. After unzipping you must keep only the patternZ exe and one excel file Frmt in the folder. rest all to be deleted. Frmt also to be deleted if your date format is different. While installing it never asks for any other file in WinXp.

I do not know how far the software is good. I feel the patterns are detected wellafter the event has occured. Any way in retrospective it looks very nice.

CAREFULLY READ THE READ ME TEXT FILE FOR INSTRUCTIONS AFTER UNZIPPING THE ZIP FILE.
