Fibotrader : An Excellent Free TA Software

Great regards to Soumya and other senior members 4 heping ppl with fibotrader.
I've read this thread, yet have queries, may be stupid.

1) When I search 4 a symbol, say ranbaxy in chart gallery, it shows many results like ranbaxy laboratories ltd., ranbaxy_1m, ranbaxy_2m, ranbaxy_3m etc. What do they all mean? On charting some show weird data, esp. abt volume.
2) what exactly does the local symbol mean?
3)Can it show an indicator and the main chart in the same window?
I would b greatful if any one helps, as i've yet to start with my TA.

Symbol Identification :
1. NSE -> <Name>ABB Limited -><Symbol>ABB
2. BSE -> <Name>ABB LTD. -> <Code>500002
3. Future -> ABB_1M For Current month
ABB_2M For 2nd month
ABB_3M For 3rd month

Few BSE stocks have abnormal data. u have to correct it by yourself.

every security has an unique symbol for identification. in Fibotrader 'Local Symbol' refers to that.

do u mean 'Overlay'?
if Yes, sorry to say that it is not possibe in Fibotrader.

hi all, i'm entering quite late 15 pages to fibo, thanx, hats off 2 soumya 4keeping it lively. i 'd really like 2 have all the data (preferably nse, saner data & availability) in one go- uploaded 2 oxyshare so that i can go 4 multithreaded dnld in flashget. questions now - sequence nos 4 posts which will guide me 2 the data till date, if the oxyshare idea not taken? i found no mention as 2 the type of contents or how long it predates 4rm current, of those files from ********** - do they have separate files 4 nse indices? i'm on fibo 4.1 w/update loaded my old ms data from amibrkr for experiment - it works but not tested for validity. can the indices be made to share the chart of scrip and also be passive i.e not be affected by templates or study indicators applied 2 the scrip? does this fibo works to give good predictions on an avg. what %? who r the clients/pros in india except these forum members? what updates r necessary 4 the fido as it stands now like scripts applicable in indian perspective, i'm on winxp-sp2?

sorry 2 end-post so early. i'd like contradict post #143 n 144 above, by compound scrips n indices mentioned in fibo-help, can i, say, introduce s&p cnx nifty (index) along with nse-abb (scrip) in one chart simultaneously - by some script, disabling the the affect of study on indices thru layering(y/n)?

Could you advise how to write the formula or create a system for creating a stoploss based on the lowest closing for the last 3 days.

How are you?
The help file in fibotrader says that we can develop our own custom filters or indicators based on our own trading strategies. I would like to know what is the language to learn so that i can learn to do some scripting. I want to develop some very simple filters based on certain criteria which are not available in fibotrader.
Please guide me.

Hi Satish,
Sowmya has already developed certain custom filters or indicators and has uploaded it to ********** for downloading all members. I appreciate the selfless work done by sowmya. Kindly read her first post in this thread. My request to you is, if you develop some filters or indicators, please upload them to ********** so that other members can also use them. That will be in line with the motto of this Forum. I hope you will bestow your earnest attention to this request.

Some members here have posted utilities(DataExtractor etc.) which can fetch realtime intraday data.
Can such a utility be integrated with the trial v of fibotrader? Soumya_b and others pls throw light.
