IcIcI Direct.com charts

#1
I have been using icicidirect.com charts during the last 2 years.I have recently upgraded my PC to P4 having Windows XP{ sp2}.Now the problem is that , these charts dont seem to open on Windows XP..I have tried opening it on many PC's using Windows XP. Can anyone tell me as to what could be the exact problem..I have also the latest version of Java VM.
I have also forwarded this problem to the concerned technical department in icicidirect.com , but looks like they also donot have the solution to it.They are giving me vague solutions like..upgrade to the latest Java version et all..Nothing seems to work..If anyone by chance is a member of icicidirect using their charts also having Windows XP, please let me know if the charts are working..Thanx friends
!! :)

I just got an a/c at idirect.com and the charts have never worked to this day. I have to go and use indiabulls charts which work perfectly or nseindia or some such other resource. I'm already fed up of idirects crappy service. Firstly their cookies expire in a few minutes and I have to keep loging back in. My orders take time to reach the exchange let alone be queued at the exchange. Their brokerage fees go through the roof, I'm seriously considering shifting to another broker perhaps fortis or geojit. You should to.

Marcus..bro
Very true , what u have just posted about icicidirect.com.
There is nothing lucrative for the investors to continue having an account at icicidirect.I am not trying to malign the brokerage house but just stating the facts.I have been trying to get the solution of viewing the charts since a month and till now their technical team has not given a solution. Its a pity that such a big brokerage house is left behind in such a technical situation and left a customer unsatisfied.I may be forced to close the account..

The problem lies elsewhere ... the charts open very well ... its just that most of the time the update process seems to be under way, and so one is never able to predict when they will open ( Its like power outages in Blore ... totally unpredictable , unlike Pune, where they announce the timings in advance)

I also use Windows XP and frequently use their charts (see attachment as example) ....

So u have to just take a chance .. keep trying

AGILENT:)
PS pm me if u want more help ... and also see the thread '400 pts rally on the cards' ( I managed to open ONGC chart intraday at 4.20 pm , whereas 10 mins earlier no charts were opening)

It seems there is a problem which is related to Java..The sify site also has Java applet which opens very easily..Its only this site(icicidirect) which is not opening.. Regards..

HI merc
agree with you totally.
Icicidirect doesn't live up to its brand image for many things
Brokerage is high
charts doesn't display
No proper trading screen (compared to others seems like one is manually filling a form)
Only thing going for them is they don't seem to have rogue traders and ur demat balance isn't tampered (read in BT that it is common problem with India bulls)
regards

Hello,

The problem is with the Java version you use. Most of the broker sites will need a complete overhaul in their Java applets soon. Why? Because many including Icicidirect, sharekhan have built their Java applets on Microsoft Java and Microsoft has decided not to make any more Java "runtimes". So it is left to Sun Mircosystem (creators of Java) to continue and make Java "runtime" programs.

Windows XP by default will not support Java. You would need to install either Sun Java or MS java.

However, not all is lost, until 2007 MS java will continue to exist and you may download the MS java from here http://sharekhan.com/articles/JVM.zip.

Please remember to uninstall/disable Sun Java before you install MS java else you may have problems.

Take care,
GlobalGyan
