Metastock rated poor

Why so less votes for Metastock

Hello Folks,

I am new to trading. I haven't used any software till now. I am eagerly looking forward to invest in commodities. I was just going through the posts regarding the software and other stuff from past few days in this forum. I am surprised to see very less votes for Metastock in spite of it has been rated as one of the top in the Stock Analysis Review 2011. Why many opt for other software's like Ambibroker, DT etc.... more than metastock. Is it because of the price?

Can you please through some light here?

Thanks,

Thanks a lot for the info. I am trying hard to find download link to Amibroker pro for rt in commodities (MCX & NCDEX). Before i go for legal copy i want to try for some time the cracked version. And also suggest me better data subscription for AB.

Thanks & regards,
sj

I have been evaluating metastock 11 for last 3 months. honestly it does not deserve to be rated as high as it is. or maybe i am not using it to the fullest. I have subscribed for quotecenter + metastock 11. Data and charts are not fully reliable. Honestly i found esignal pro way better than metastock.

another advantage of amibroker is u can use many sheets for different indicator ,trading system etc for same scrip. but configuring templates in metastock is a bit tricky and realtime data matches better with amibroker.

Amibroker is much more light-weighted than Metastock (in terms of using less resources and being less over bloated) and still you can do the same and much more with Amibroker than you can do with Metastock. IMHO handling, customization and charting is also better in Amibroker.

But the main difference between Amibroker and Metastock is speed. Amibroker is insanely fast. Metastock is like Grandpa. Another main advantage of AB to MS is backtesting and optimization where MS is miles behind. I don't think the price for MS is justified. It should rather be the other way around.

Think about it. Amibroker provides

Multithreaded charting and back-testing and optimization (last two ones in new v5.5 soon). Of course explorations and scans will be multi-threaded too. It provides 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Industry's fastest backtesting and optimization. You can also write your own custom backtester. 3-D optimizations graphs. It provides automated trading. Free development kit so you can build your own stuff (API connections or .dll indicators instead of AFL). Easy to handle and freely customizable. There is much more to add to the list of things. There are no limits

One thing I also like is that the developer of Amibroker is looking at suggestions of his customers. So if there is a reasonable thing to add and it's wished by many users you can be sure that it will be part in one of the next versions. Amibroker grows and grows and gets better and better.

And all these things and more for paying a price which is a joke in relation to the capabilities of the software. You could ask many users who tried both Metastock and Amibroker and the majority would prefer the last one.

Forget about Stock Analysis Review 2011. It's crap.

Re: Why so less votes for Metastock

hi casonite,i think u dont use fully metastock function, so ur assumption is wrong..here most of the seiners using and used metastock..with reliable data feed ..i am satisfied with metastock..:thumb:
I don't care whether you're satisfied with metastock or not neither do i care what seniors use. I was sharing my experience so it was not a assumption. and experiences are neither right nor wrong. They are subjective in nature which is why not everyone says the same thing about a particualr software.

Dear fellow traders,
I've been trying to learn about T.A. before I actually subscribe for a good T.A.Software. But I really do not know how to read the indicators correctly. Should I be looking at the 5 day exp. moving average crossing over the 15 day/ Or should it be the 20 day over the 50 day? And is weighted moving average more reliable than the exp. moving average or the simple moving average? And what are the other signals that should reinforce a buy or short/ the stochastics or the rsi? Can someone help me here?
