Notes:

1) the screener has selected only 2 stocks today, in view of the crash yesterday.

2) the market is in a crucial testing phase. no fresh exposures are desirable.

3) on clear indication of direction of the market only, any exposures may be thought of. track the market carefully and even decide on reducing the current exposures as required.

4) The selections are posted for study of the selection criteria as some on-line friends are tracking the performance.

all the best and have cautious approach.

-------------Prev. Close --Open-- High-- Low-- Average Price
Goetze India --367.00-- 378.45-- 401.00-- 320.25-- 362.42

Cosmo films--94.40-- 98.00-- 101.25-- 86.00-- 95.72

Both of them opened high , went higher and then buckled. On a bullish day both would have closed higher. So the selection logic appears to be good. But market condition will defy all logic , hence caution in trading.

Also Give the duration of short term.

dear pankaj,

thanks for your review of the selections.

basically, stocks in a confirmed uptrend are attempted to be selected by one or more considerations of MACD, RSI, ROC, price-volume uptrend and a few more indicators (i do not know the technical terms - i also do not know if they exist at all). my approach is basically statistical, taking advantage of the methods of technical analysis.

by 'short term', i mean 2 to 5 days, as most of the uptrends will last at least that long, as the moving averages of 21, 9 and 3 are considered in most of the situaions. i do not consider the selections fit for intraday trading.

the exit from the positions are guided by money management philosophy of each individual investor. these selections are expected to give a bias towards wins (expected win-loss ratio better than 3:2).

whenever, i modify any part of the logic, i take a back-testing run for about 100 trading days and the results are satisfactory. if you have the time and inclination to help improvement of the selection logic, i love to send such back-tested selections to you.

thanks, pankaj, once again for the interest shown in the project, beyond the stock codes.

Hi Murthy
I understood that. Now the question will be uptrend should be counted as friday opening/closing higher(whichever is higher) than closing price of previous friday or opening price of Monday (whichever is lower).
So naturally you are going for weekly uptrend/downtrend.

As regrads backtesting 100 days data I will suggest a different approach.

Identify a slice of time when indices are in uptrend or downtrend for 100 days. Pair them and test the logic for both situations(bullish as well as bearing phase.) I think your logic is for individual stocks and indices will provide psychological input while screening. This is just nebulous idea.

Further , if stocks are confirmed to open/close higher on friday then likely targets also may be indicated perhaps using pivot points???

Once I finish EOD i will be happy to contribute.
Regards
Pankaj

Notes:

1) If you find the NSE symbols missing at the expected place, it is not a bug in the code. The program could not identify, with reasonable levels of probability, stocks that are likely to move up.

2) Please excercise caution, watch market movement carefully before fresh exposures and even reducing exposures.
