First of all let me explain who can benefit from reading this thread :
1. You want to run Odin from DIFFERENT BROKERS simultaneously.
2. You want to run applications which are incompatible with windows 7.
3. You just want to show off! you perv!
Though my primary focus during this guide would be on Windows 7, there are other os's that can do this with third party software.
before getting started, you should install odin client for one of the brokers in windows 7
OK then let's get started :-
1. Download "Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool" from "hxxp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=163321" (sorry for not providing direct links, not sure if forum rules allow that or not!)
2. Check which of the following A,B,C messages you receive:-
A. If you receive the message This computer does not have hardware-assisted virtualization, your computer does not meet the hardware requirement for Windows Virtual PC (Don't fret yet!, It just might work out for you!, download only if you receive the prior message (about 3 to 4 MB) "hxxp://download.microsoft.com/download/E/7/4/E742FBD2-AE2E-4920-AED1-ABE3F8173585/Windows6.1-KB977206-x86.msu" if you have 32bit windows 7 OR "hxxp://download.microsoft.com/download/0/A/3/0A326AC6-2F94-423F-B760-C61CB8439182/Windows6.1-KB977206-x64.msu" if you have 64bit windows 7, you either have to install it before installing Virtual Machine or after, not sure!, try it!)
B. If you receive the message Hardware-assisted virtualization is not enabled on this computer, you need to configre your BIOS settings to allow virtualization support, it's probably disabled by default.
Examples for some models of some computer manufacturers BIOS settings are below:
Sample instructions for your PC
Dell systems
Depress the F12 key when boot menu text appears at startup
Select BIOS setup and depress the Enter key
Using the mouse, expand the Virtualization Support menu item by clicking on the plus to the left of Virtualization Support and select Virtualization
Check the Enable Intel Virtualization Technology checkbox
Click Apply
Click Exit
Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer
HP systems
Depress Esc key when prompted at startup
Depress the F10 key to Configure BIOS
Scroll to System Configuration using the arrow keys
Select Virtualization Technology and depress the Enter key
Select Enabled and depress the Enter key
Depress the F10 key to save and exit
Select Yes and depress the Enter key
Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer
Lenovo ThinkPad systems
Depress the blue ThinkVantage key when prompted at startup
Depress the F1 key to enter the BIOS setup utility
Using the arrow keys, scroll to Config and depress the Enter key
Scroll to CPU and depress the Enter key
Scroll to Intel Virtualization Technology and depress the Enter key
Select Enabled and depress the Enter key
Depress Enter key to continue
Depress F10 key to save and exit
Select Yes and depress the Enter key
Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer
Acer
PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.
Asus
PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.
Samsung
PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.
Panasonic
Depress the F2 key when boot menu text appears at startup
Select "Advanced" menu in Setup Utility
Change "Intel Virtualization Technology" setting from "Disable" to "Enable"
Depress F10 to exit Setup Utility
Select "Yes" in confirmation menu
Depress Enter to exit confirmation menu.
In any case be very, very sure that you shutdown (power off) , "NOT RESTART" your pc after enabling it in BIOS.
C. If you receive the message This computer is configured with hardware-assisted virtualization, you are all set!
3. Go ahead and download (about 9 to 10 MB) "hxxp://download.microsoft.com/download/0/5/5/0554AE99-785F-45CB-B1F2-0E3ED1E6117D/Windows6.1-KB958559-x86.msu" for 32bit win7 OR "hxxp://download.microsoft.com/download/0/5/5/0554AE99-785F-45CB-B1F2-0E3ED1E6117D/Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.msu" for 64bit win7, and install.
4. Then download (about 470 mb) the main Windows XP Mode VM from "hxxp://download.microsoft.com/download/7/2/C/72C7BAB7-2F32-4530-878A-292C20E1845A/WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe" OR "hxxp://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx", install it!.
5. Once the winxp mode is installed go ahead and install the odin for another broker in windows xp mode VM.
6. Check if there is a shortcut for odin in "c:\documents and settings\all users\startmenu\programs", in Win xp mode VM. If not make a shortcut for DietOdin.exe from "C:\ODIN\DIET"(in XP MODE vm) and cut paste it in ""c:\documents and settings\all users\startmenu\programs"(in xp mode VM).
7. And you are all done, close the vm if it's on , click on start button in win 7 -> All Programs -> Windows Virtual PC -> Virtual Windows XP applications -> Diet odin, thats it odin starts in XP MODE.
8. Just to make sure minimize the "xp mode" odin, and start the windows 7 (another broker) odin. Oh! ho ho! how cool is that guys!.
Note:- The above method though stated, has NOT been tried by me for dual Odin's. I just use it for xp only apps, but it should work none the less.
