Hi to all
I am planning to buy new laptop. But confused little which system to buy.So please share your experience so i can get some ideas.which one is better..?
Windows 7 is said to be more stable than Vista and is said to be of an update of vista than 'another' OS. All (?) the issues of vista are said to be addressed in windows 7 !

Now the more important question is which other software do you intend to use with the chosen OS? Whether those software work well with the selected OS?

With issues in my Laptop with Vista, I have recently shifted BACK to XP !

Microsoft is 'committed' to release of an OS and Office version every 2 years, lest it may be 'out of business.'

Yes!.

Windows 7 should be preferred over others. It received a cool rating from critics after they rated Vista as 'bad' and 'ugly'

Windows 7 looks cool . BUT , it has compatibility issues with some programs

If you are Odin Diet user , its not working as of now on windows 7 . ( If any one tried and got it working please let me know ) .Some ftp applications also have compatibility issues .

To run XP mode on windows 7 , your processor should support virtualization. Your processor should be V series . Ask the vendor if it supports virtualization or not .If it doesnt , XP mode doesnt work in windows 7 .

Instead of Asking for Vista or Windows 7 , the question XP or windows 7 might had got more responses :)

Vista and windows 7 are more resource consuming than XP . ( Memory ,Paging ) . But Multimedia options are good in Windows7 .

For a cool user who do not want much clutter , Xp is the better choice.

Windows 7 is just released, like other previous OS release of Microsoft this one also can be some bugs initially, so its better go with XP now, later on go with Windows 7..

As I didn't go with Vista when it released, waited for some feedback and it never get good impact later on also, so I keep with XP itself till now.

I talked to rkglobal , who is my broker and they are helpless . I tried all forums with out any luck .The issue is some what typical . I use BSNL broadband and relaicne netconnect. ODIn fails after you type in username and password with an error Setsockopt (Error 10055) . Which says there is no buffer sapace. My paging file is 6 GB so ther eis no question of Buffer issues .While searching the net i found one user clims Odin is working on A LAN ( a direct connection to internet with out dialing a PPP or PPPOE ) .
Ther is another post in traderji , in which the user cliamed WIndows 7 beta had no issues with Odin but The final release have .

I have a service ticket open with microsoft from 15 days with out any luck :) Kudos to Microsoft :)

If your new PC with Windows 7 have a processor capable of Virtualization, then You can use XP mode and run Odin in XP mode. I am not sure how good it is as it will consume much more resources
