Default Help sought for using BSE charting

Guys

I have tried to use the charting facility on bseindia.com site but to no avail.

Here are the steps:

1. Open bseindia.com and on homepage enter name of a stock and click on quotes.

2. On qoutes page click 'Charting'.

3. I get intraday chart of that stock. Now I change the date range to reflect last two months and then click on 'Periodicity' drop down list (default is intraday). As soon as I select 'Daily' or 'Weekly' I get error 'enter valid date'.

I tried entering all sorts of date ranges (two months, 6 months, 6 weeks, etc) but I get error msg as above all the time.

Can someone help on how to get 'Daily' chart? My self-study has stopped at this early stage

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi,

I too noticed the problem in bsecharting these days. Anyway to continue your study use any of the following charting websites.

http://www.google.com/finance?q=NSE:RELIANCE

http://in.finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=^NSEI

http://www.investbulls.com/e107_grap...aDayCharts.php

http://www.icharts.in/charts.html

Chachi: Thanks for your reply. I looked at these sites but none of them allow the user to manually draw lines on charts. (Is it same with BSE site)?

Satish: I did enter dates in mm/dd/yyyy format. Please let me know how do YOU proceed (what steps) to use BSE charting facility?

BOTH: Since bseindia.com is a popular site for charting, there has to be a way of getting 'Daily' charts on the screen (not just intraday), which I am unable to get.:confused

Does someone here regularly use bseindia.com for charting?

Thanks

Hi Pos trader,

yeah, you are right.. there is a problem with bse charting. error is the same which u mentioned. There is nothing to do with the date format. The same error appears even when u try to change the scrip name. I think some problem from their end.

And as you said none of the above mentioned websites allow you to draw lines on the chart. And to my knowledge no free website provides you that feature.

I dont think we have another option, lets wait till it is set right..

I have corrected this post.....................

Today I noticed that BSE Charting has been corrected and you do not get any error.

Also You can draw lines in this bse charts if you wish........

For more flexibility I suggest you to use Fcharts or any other free charting softwares.

Regards
Chachi

Chachi: One guy (rakamath) has pointed on 'Tech analysis' thread (in reply to a similar query) that there is a major defect on bseinda.com site. The date format to be used actually is dd/mm/yyyy and not mm/dd/yyyy as mentioned against that field.

It is surprising that BSE team has allowed such defect to remain open for long time. It also shows that their review and testing procedures are POOR.

Anyway, thanks for letting me know other sites.

BSE charts are good for beginers and those who have taken some training in tech.analysis, all options are available on charts and self explanatory, even if you do any wrong thing on the charts it does not affect the original one. But it is best for day_trrading to decide start and end points even if you donot know pivot,R1,S1 points, you can easily earn Rs3000/-per day with investment of 20000/- how?------
