I am using Quotetracker and it is very sufficient to me, but I am getting only Live individual stock quotes, charts etc. But can't get the Live S&P CNX Nifty Quotes or charts. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

For indices as a panel, ensure:
a. View -> Indices -> Show/Hide Indices Panel is correctly set
b. View -> Indices -> Edit Indices has NSE India (Free) as the Quote Source and that there is a tick mark against the Indian indices that you want to see.
c. Verify that File -> Fetched Pages -> Show Last Index Page is fetching values.

For indices as a symbol, add NIFTY, CNX500, etc. to your portfolio.

You will get intraday graphs; not historical graphs.

Excellent and Thanks, it works perfectly, but I also need the Historical Charts of NSE on Quotetracker, is there anyway to get it?

Nope, QT never did historical charts for indices as it is does not download EOD data for them. I even thought of entering historical data manually just for charting but that did not work out.

Today, I was amazed to see QT showing a historical chart of Nifty and will have to take back my earlier post.

The graph is not quite right as open/close corresponds to high/low values. But it is a big step forward.

Where did the data come from? Not entirely sure; but I think it is BigCharts. To check this, I created a new portfolio with the following symbols, did not specify a quote source and could see historical charts.

NIFTY
1581128 (for CNX Midcap)
1573868 (for Nifty Jr)
1573879 (for CNX Defty)
BSESN (for BSE Sensex 30)

The following BigChart symbols did not work: BSEDX30, BOM200, BOM200X/BY.

Could you please check as I am unsure what caused the backfill to initiate by itself.

Please go Menu>data sources>Indices and see Index quote source site It could be Bloomberg Asia which gives Historical charts By Big charts using yahoo data. Yahoo quote for symbol ^Nifty can be used for Nifty or preferred symbol

Please check and let us know the Index quote souce

Thanks & regards

At the time of conducting the mentioned trial with BigChart symbol names, NSE was the index quote source. There was no symbol quote source specified for the portfolio .

While it could have been Bloomberg as I have used it earlier, that source does not allow user added indices. It's mentioned format is NIFTY:IND, etc. It would be odd behavior for QT to query historical data for a portfolio symbol via the index source if not found by the quote source. Some peculiar fetch pipeline is occuring and that is the reason for requesting somebody else to check.

Another reason is that the historical graph reappears even if one clears the chart data and without the backfill delay. One is hesitant to delete the .hsd file as it also probably contains the intraday data that is needed.

You can get the Nifty Hist chart even if you are using NSE India as the data source. go to hist chart and display. If it empty right click and select backfill Hist data and enter Yahoo symbol ^NSEI for Nifty and You will get the HISt chart. Same for Sensex

Cheers
