The one on www.equitymaster.com is pretty good / convenient. It is free for the first three months.

If you get an ICICI Direct.com trading account (750 bucks per year), it comes with an automatic Portfolio management software, where after market hours one just clicks a button in the Trade Book and the portfolio gets updated. Very convenient indeed.

Best is to use one of these online programmes and maintain one's own Portfolio in an Excel file separately , just for offline verification. MS Excel is a very handy and versatile programme for maintaining a portfolio.

Rgds,

Uday.

Thanks Uday, Infact I am currently using excel & *****. I also tried Money from MS and Quicken. They both seems to be pretty much basic but on plus side they are tightly intergrated with cash transcations. On negative side I am not able to extend them for my own money management rules, Position sizing, Live price tracking, price alerts.
I am in process of developing my own tool but before doing that just want to make sure that I am not re-inventing the wheel.

nareshch,

i too made the move from a spreadhsheet to something more specialised and havn't looked back. take a look at Stator (www.stator-afm.com). it offers some features which i havn't come across before in portfolio management, like integrated position sizing and equity curves. I am a user and I have to say the support is also pretty good.

it can also update prices from *****!

cheers
daniel

One needs information about both accountingcum portfolio management to avoid duplication. If anybody is aware of such software let me know. The accounting package Tally does not have any valuation otherwise that is the best workable solution.
