SIP ANALYIS of SENSEX...

#1
SIP is one of the worst products pushed by the mutual fund industry... Unzip the attached file into a folder and execute sip.exe for the results...in a DOS window... You could do this by executing cmd in start >> run...

2 Options may be given to do a sip between dates...

These have to be as in the example below:

sip 20030427 20081027

Here 2003 is Year
04 signifies April
27 is the date of SIP...

DO post comments and let me know if any changes are required...

BTW when u unzip sip.zip it will have 2 files.
1. sip.exe
2. table.csv with data from the BSE since 2nd Jan, 1991... This is updated till 21st November, 2008... Well I did down load sensex data thanks to the excel sheet posted under a different topic and hence pasting this tool here...

Sam,

I don't think so.

Different products suit different people :) When it comes for investing, trading not every person is same :)

Hmmm... Have u run the tool ??? Different traders and different investors perform differently is true... :) However what I did try was do a virtual SIP on bse Sensex since that is the one available since 1991... The results just shocked me... :eek:I was expecting a decent return... But SIP proved otehrwise on the sensex... Remember long term there is seldom a fund beating the index by a wide margin... Again if somebody could post a zip of sensex values older than the 1991... Will be greatful... Regards...
