We are planning to develop a Portfolio Management software using the development resources at hand. This software would be made available in the form of a website (ASP model). Currently the functionalities that we are building in are :
- Handle multiple asset classes like Equities, Derivatives, Commodities, Debt, Forex, etc - Algorithmic Trading - Real time Derivatives Strategies suggestion and execution - Mark to Market - Mark to Model (comparison with theoritical price) - Portfolio creation - Returns calculation - Net Present Value/Future Value - Comparison with Risk Free returns - Risk Management - VaR Wishlist: - NAV Reporting - Mutual Fund returns calculation It would be great help if you guys can add your requirements to this functionaly list. This software with the above feature list would be available in Q3 2008 -Thanks Last edited by mchulet; 28th May 2008 at 05:38 PM. |

Here are a few features (that I have in my personal software), not necessarily in order of priority.
1) Sector / Industry-wise, Large-caps, mid-cap etc categorization. Exposure and concentration in various sectors and industries. 2) Co-relation with major indices(NSE, BSE etc), currencies (USD/INR, US Dollar Index), Oil, Metals Index etc. 3) Dividend, split, bonus etc notifications and alerts. 4) Capital gains and losses maximization. E.g. Notify the user that there is a losing investment in the portfolio that is approaching 365 years. The user may then book a loss on that investment against some other profitable investment thereby reducing capital gains taxes. 5) What-if reports : e.g. What would my losses be if large-caps in my portfolio lost 10% and small-caps lost 20% etc. (Helps risk management) 6) EPS, P/E etc of the portfolio as a whole. For short term traders : 1) Trade statistics - (e.g. Drawdowns, %W/L, Sharpe Ratio, Duration of Trade etc. Quote:
