Default Virus Attack-Infostealer

My Computer has been infected by a virus called infostealer. Was able to delete it using norton 2006. Norton says this virus logs key strokes and screen shots and passes to some remote comp? Norton is asking me to remove all unneeded programs. Like what could someone tell? What else do I need to do to ensure system is perfectly safe.

Do I need to clean the registry, reinstall windows Xp etc? Could someone guide?

Currently using Norton 2006 and lava's adaware. Planning to shift to Norton 360. Anyother programs that i should use in addition to this

Thanks

First of all inform your bank that your password may have been compromised and lock all online transactions.

Format your hard disk to get rid of any trace of the malware.

Change password of all accounts.

Regards,
Kalyan.
