MT4- Strange!!Displaying Charts even without market open.

Hello Guys,

To track the global markets i have a taken a demo account in hot forex and using mt4 platform. I am tracking Dow30(US-30). Even without the US markets being open, the Mt4 platform was displaying charts as if it is open for 24 hours

Can someone help me understand why is so?

As of posting this, it is 18th February 8:20 PM IST and US markets opened around 30 minutes or so, but in the snapshot you can use data for the whole day..

Attached is the snapshot.

futures markets 24 hrs even on exchange holidays.
even nifty also traded 24 hrs.

Really appreciate the quick reply. It is enlightening to hear that dow also has futures.

Wanted to say, I rechecked, it is spot value. Permit me to explain:

I opened two demo accounts, one with hotforex and the other with GCI-->Both are Mt4 platforms.

In GCI: it says Dow_Jones and it is showing Dow Futures values and it is displaying for 24 hours.

In Hot forex: It says US-30 and it is showing it is showing the dow index value, but here also it is displaying for 24 hours.

Kindly please do answer:

1. Is the index dow30 equivalent like the spot?
2. Does it also trade like futures 24 hours? If it does, where do people take positions if the US markets are closed?

mt4 not conected to any exchange.
deal desk nothing to do with exchanges
mt4 is good for learning. it is not real trading
we are trading with company which providing it.
they follow the prices of exchange but not trade there.
they will hedge net position in exchange.
dont trade real money.

dow futures are there
