Hi Vertigo

You format first this extern hard disk and then you do the image. How to format? http://www.techiecorner.com/159/how-to-format-external-hard-disk-for-mac-and-windows/ After that you can use this free software "HD Clone" to make the image http://www.hdclone.com and here you can read how to make the image: https://www.ehow.com/how_5900892_clone-laptop-hd.html

Take care / Dan
Thanks Dan,
Formatted the disk, made clone instead of image as it will be exact replica of current disk and thats what i want, will just put away backup disk and use it if this one crashes. Only drawback is that the unused space where partition is copied gets wasted, but image wont give me freedom to boot from it i think so cloned it.
How you backup ur data ?

I do backup on external hard disk as well as on rewritable Data CD. An other way you can do, but I do not use, is in a cloud in which you have access too where ever you are in the world. Take care :)

How to protect against it under normal circumstances? Block it. Block what ever and block again what ever. Firefox has the most powerful tools to do so. Here a list of add on which will at least make it very, very work intensive to trace your browser habits as long as you not use t..(h)ooooo...r.... in any way:

Adblock Edge
Adblock Plus Popup-Addon
Element Hiding Helper für Adblock Plus
Customizations für Adblock Plus
BetterPrivacy
Disconnect
Ghostery
HTTPS-Everywhere
NoScript
Random Agent Spoofer
RefControl
Self-Destructing Cookies
WOT (WEB of Trust)
Request Policy
Remove Google Tracking

Just past copy one by one in Firefox under "Tools", Search all add ons, Install and that's it. Not for beginners, as you need to know when you have to open and close any of those add ons.

Here some more info's about that topic:

How safe is the use of anti virus software? I mean, you surely think that your AV is going/must protect you against what ever. But are we really better protected with an AV software or is our OS by using such a software even more vulnerable?

If you are interested in this topic, the following PDF will give you some answers/insight to that question: http://www.syscan360.org/slides/2014_EN_BreakingAVSoftware_JoxeanKoret.pdf

Nice finds Somatung
Thank you. Here one for a good and again absolute tragically laugh, as this man has achieved all his knowledge with tax money, was in charge to find ways how to cheat and lied even to his government and the citizen of the country he lives in and now he opens a new company for Cyber Security.

In this company he charges up to one Mil US per month for his help to certain companies for what he achieved with tax money from even them and now they may pay again money to him for what he was responsible for to do against them in the past in certain cases. Isn't this a bit absolute abstruse??

How do you know when an update to software (especially security software) is available?
Some software's tell the user when an update is available but most do not.

1. The Calendar of Updates is a site that lists updates to a wide variety of software with emphasis on security software on a daily basis.

The Calendar of Updates provides an RSS feed so you don't have to visit the site at all.
feed://www.calendarofupdates.com/updates/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=rss&type=calendar&id=1

Calendar of Updates lists updates for all kinds of software (including linux OS).

2. In your RSS reader add RSS feed links of as many software's as possible.

3. Filehippo update checker software scans and checks for updates only for some software (not all software's) installed in your PC.

4. SUMO is a software that scans and finds updates only for software (not all software's) installed in your PC. SUMO scans for more software's than Filehippo update checker but shows a lot of available "beta" software's as updates.

This 4 pronged approach virtually guarantees that you'll know of updates asap ensuring the best level of security that you can in the least amount of time and effort. Just one time setup effort is involved.

I have been using these for a long time and its very hard to miss an update using it.

Others may know of even better ways to do this, if so please post it here.

Do not install any "Driver update software" unless you know what you are doing.

If you cannot do all these steps then just do step 1. Add Calendar of Updates RSS feed to your feed reader or visit that calendar daily.

The HACIENDA Program for Internet Colonization

Since the early days of TCP, port scanning has been used by computer saboteurs to locate vulnerable systems. In a new set of top secret documents seen by Heise, it is revealed that in 2009, the British spy agency GCHQ made port scans a "standard tool" to be applied against entire nations (Figure 1, see the picture gallery). Twenty-seven countries are listed as targets of the HACIENDA program in the presentation (Figure 2), which comes with a promotional offer: readers desiring to do reconnaissance against another country need simply send an e-mail (Figure 3).

http://www.heise.de/ct/artikel/NSA-GCHQ-The-HACIENDA-Program-for-Internet-Colonization-2292681.html

Summary

Technical solutions such as TCP Stealth are one way for administrators to harden their systems by protecting internal TCP services against the attacks by criminals, be they private, commercially motivated or state parties. However, as Linus Neumann of the CCC recently stated in an OpEd for Heise, it may not be possible to win the race in the long run solely through technical means. Without the necessary political will to legally protect, promote and fund secure communication systems, this one-sided battle will continue | and users will lose. Neumann underlined that secure communication systems were possible, but that governments are much more concerned about loss of control than about hardened (and less controllable) networks. Much more political work lays ahead; however, operating system vendors and administrators can improve the situation today by deploying modern security solutions.

Avii has posted this link in an other thread. It is a link you always have to use before you download any Excel sheet or what ever file presented here in the forum or any where else. It will check the file for any virus, back doors and other male ware and will warn you if the file or what ever is infected in any way. Here the link: https://www.virustotal.com
