Dear Chintan,...
Ur Problem Seems To Be Major .
What I M Feeling Is U Got Attacked By A Critical Virus. Which Is Not Affecting Just Ur Softwares But Also Kickin Ur Hardwares.
U Can Simply Do One Thing , Rush To Any Good Computer Engineer, Tell Him Ur Problem And Let Him Do Lower Level Formatting Of Ur Hard Drives( Which U Can Not Do With Ur Cd ) And It Could Solve Ur Problem Within 24 Hrs.

P.s. Dont Forget To Take Back Up Of Ur All Data And Softwares What U Might Need To Use In Future.

And In Future Dont Install Anything Into Ur Comp Without Scanning Them With A Good Antivirus ,... I Would Suggest Norton Or Kaspersky Or Quick Heal ( Buy Originals Plz , They Deserve It)

Regards,..
Darsh

We just need to restore the system to some previous date..... windows have this utility in Programmms>> Accesories>> system restore...

And Voilllaa...... ur good old days are back.

and so is peace of mind.....

Something to learn from your predicament Chintan. ALWAYS CREATE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING NEW S/W. And off-course as Darsh has said scanning with multiple AV/AS before installing.

I still think it's better to carry out a format of your disk at some later date (after necessary backups) just to make sure there aren't any lurking viruses. For now you can make a full scan with one or more AV/AS & quarantine anything malicious that you find.

Regards,
Kalyan.

The best thing is to frequently maintain u'r PC .

Following configuration would help u further ....

SolnAssuming u have 80gb HDD)
1.Install OS and required S/W on "C:".. ( This partition should be e.g 25GB)
2.Create swap partition "D:"(5GB)
3.Keep Data partition on third drive "E:"(50GB).(Keep installers and all data on this par.)
4.Install good antivirus (Norton & Quickheal are slow..my experience..Kasper is Ok)(License version is must for updates ..latest for any antivirus)

SO NEVER SAVE ANYTHING ON "C:" - Data partition shoudl always be separate ...

My Best Practice_______ which may be Useful..
C Drive -10 GB For OS Only.
D: Drive 20 GB Program files
E:Backup,Setup Files Etc...

After Installing OS,Change Default Program Files Location as Follows,
1. Click run and type "regedit.exe"
2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion
3. Find Program Files Dir in the right hand pane whose default should be C:\Program Files
4. Change this to whatever directory you wish.
I changed it to D:\Program Files for example.
This Helps at the point when serious error is OS to format C Drive, without loosing program files though you have to install program again but it takes much less time.

Hi,
System Restore solved ur problems, but those files that caused the trouble may be still there in ur hard disk. System Restore restores the registry settings to a previous date, usually do not remove the programs that caused the trouble from hard disk.

thanks raska..... but if files are infected then is there any point to copy them to another drive.... because the root cause of problem is virus....ok

Now after all this .. i downloaded kaspersky 7.0 30 days trial version. and scan my whole computer .... and to my surprise no virus is detected.....

after that i scaned my pendrive and 28 virus detected. i formated my whole drive and i think things will be alright frm here on.
