How to sell large quantity of stock

#1
Sometimes I have large quantity of stock, or have stock in a relatively illiquid counter. How to sell in that situation, without causing the price to fall drastically.

Is there any strategy that I can follow.

If you have 10000 share to sell ,but only 1000 bids are there at that rate ,you can
sell only 1000 shares ,and remaining 9000 are shown as pending.
Either you have to revise the price or wait till it reaches the price again.

Thank you for responding. My question is how to prevent my own selling of stock to cause a sudden decrease in stock price so that I am unable to sell at desired price and have to lower the price.

Mostly share price is dependent on Demand/Supply chain. If particular
shares is short in Supply ,they command a higher price,if they are abundant
then lower prices.

If its in fno, buy a put option and Dump...if not get a dealer at a brokerage to do it for you.

Hello,

The standard solution is to break your order into smaller sized orders.

So if you have 10000 shares, and the stocks is going near your exit price, start selling in lots of 1000/2000 shares through gradually at ask price and not marker orders.
