Techanically volatility increase when PUTS are chased by the traders. Just take a look 3800, 3700 3900 puts are active.

The volatility in markets is increasing ALARMINGLY ,for this month it was at 35,whereas for the last two months it was 30 and 28 respectively. In percentage terms the increase for this month was 17% and for previous month it was 7%.

As a trader, lets enjoy the high volatility. Don't we enjoy the roller-coaster ride.
Enjoy with smaller the regural position size.. and manage the risk.

For option player, it is time to be seller of option as premium on options go up when VIX is high. High VIX time is the time when traders risk management is put on the test.
High Risk, high reward days.

Today is the WORST day in last 3 months as far as closing of volatility index in concerned with index going beyond 54.

But once you come to NIFTY it was highly range bound between 4310-4350.

Today's volatility index closed over 61, the worst so far ,in last 3 months, whereas NIFTY fell by 150 points points and had a trading range of 100 points.

For last 5 trading sessions in this month (AUG) the VIX is cooling off from high values of more than 50 in the last week of previous month.

Markets are cooling off.Today's volatility (30.4)is less than the average for the last one month(36.4).
