Question Will I GAIN or LOSE on this Portfolio - Is there an Oppor to Rectify

Hi,

First of all... this is the best forum I have ever come across... I am a newbie to the stock markets and a retail investor and have learnt a lot from this forum! Thanks to all of you!

Its just that this subject is sooo vast (stock markets) that I have made some investments and still clueless if I will LOSE or GAIN in the future? I can remain invested for 1 year... and can pump in more funds if needed.. if some experts suggest any changes/corrections to my portfolio.

I really would appreciate your expert advice, posting my portfolio here:
(all are average price)

Adlabs @ 360
BPCL @ 300
DLF @ 718 (I know this is a BIG mess)
GMR @ 125
HDFC BAnk @ 1000
ICICI Bank @ 585
Idea Cel @ 105
Rel Capital @ 870
RCOm @ 410
Rel Infra @ 750
Rel Power @ 420 (IPO Price)
SAIL @ 140
TATA Tele @ 25
Yes Bank @ 170
Unitech @ 350 (another big mistake)

I would like to learn from the Experts the short comings of my Portfolio:
  • Is there too much exposure to a Particular Sector/Group Company?
  • The Average Price is that too High? Ok? Can be Lower if I invest further?
  • Overall Will I Gain or Lose on this on a 1 Year Horizon?
  • Any other suggestions or advice from the experts is welcome! I Like to take FEEDBACK VERY POSITIVELY!

Look forward to your comments!

you should trade with 15 days targets to bring down the cost of investments never think that the price will not come down , book the profit when it appreciate 30 to 4% in short period.

try to run correlation inspector at macroaxis.com. If most of stock in portfolio has positive correlation close to 1, it means it is not diversified correctly. In well balanced portfolio you must have mix of positive and negative correlated stock so that if market moves sharply in one direction you are well protected.

Also keep in mind diversified portfolio reduces your RISK as well as RETURN
