Wot say? We are still far off from the day when we will see something like the CBOT VOX or VIX...

Anyway, I am attaching one more chart of PCR vs Nifty from 2003 till Sept 2006.

Regards,

Sunil Saranjame.

PS: Legend for the chart: Cyan=PCR, Yellow=Nifty, Black= 10 Day average of PCR.
Thanks once again for the charts. Brings out the fact that too high a PCR is a signal for a correction. I had empirically followed 1.3-1.4 as a warning level. Before the recent fall NIFTY PCR had gone above 1.5.

I thought one looked at improving things with new systems but babus obviously have a different line of thinking!

Regards,
Kalyan.

NSE and SEBI can tend to be retrogressive!! But hey, we're an 'emerging' market. If things were progressive, maybe these PE ratios would not be justified!!

In a Volatile Mkt(Bull Mkt) Traders selling more put than buying calls. In this situation PCR will be high but not on account of bearish. This point should also consider very carefully when analysing PUT /CALL Ratio

Hi, I am having doubts on the put call ratio, can anyone guide me :

1) If put call ratio by OPEN INTEREST for an option is low say 0.28 while put call
ratio by VOLUME for an option is high say 1.10 , then what does it imply?

2) Reverse, If put call ratio by OPEN INTEREST for an option is high say 1.10 while put call ratio by VOLUME for an option is low say 0.28 , then what does it imply?
Please explain it in detail.

With regards,

Learningcurve

Put Call ratio on Stocks does not work. With indexes in a liquid value it makes sense- but you cannot use this a standalone thing- and more to judge market sentiment.

What you look for even in Index PCR is extremes- this assumes you have historical data.

You can ALSO use this as ONE indicator- NOT THE indicator.
