cant wrie call option

hi i am trading with religare securities. i have tried to write a call option now but the order is getting rejected. i dont know why? should i have any margin money for this. but it is very small amount i tried to sell one lot of nifty 5500 ce 31-12-09 which is Rs.8/- . can any body explain me. please

yes u need margin blocked to be able to write options...abt 16-25k /nifty lot depending on ur broker...

Yes, option writing(shorting) is very very risky. Do it only of you are aware if it.

Otherwise, buy put optiosn instead of selling call options.

Buying an OTM put is not a substitute of selling an OTM call and i think he knew it very well thats why he is selling 5500 call

If he knew it, he would have not asked the question. I see this question popping up quite frequently these days. The only reason why he is trying to sell that is because its looking cheap 8x50 = 400/-
