How to start tradeing in options

#1
I would like to know if it is ok to trade with 1 lot?
I was thinking of starting with either nifty or mininifty?
I heard for settlement is t+1
Please tell me what you think?

do you mean not trade in options?
I have been tradeing in stocks.
I won't start with too much in options.
I thought it would be better not to trade in futures.
I have been reading futures and options for dummies.

Ajfrod, I would say, it is okay to start trading in options for you.

However, as a starter, try to follow some of the following principles:
(1) Trade with only 1 lot of Nifty or mini-nifty. With mini-Nifty, I usually find low volumes of contracts traded making me feel uncomfortable trading in mini-Nifty.
(2) As a starter, go only for "BUYING" CALL and PUT options instead of "SELLING" them. Selling Options requires margin and is bound to additional risk as well.
(3) Read about Option strategies (Strangle, Straddle, ...) and implement them to minimize the risk.

Note: Above all are my personal views and may entitle to be wrong. Experts, please correct, if you feel otherwise.
