For options to be successful, the nifty, if you are a nifty trader, should move in a particular direction steadily either up or down. When to buy option is a common question and there could be many answers to this. Normally, what I do I am sharing it here. First find last weeks support (S1)and resistence level (R1). R1 ~ S1 = 300 to 400 points.

P = (Weeks High + Weeks Low + Weeks Close)/3
S1 = 2P - H
R1 = 2P - L

If (R1 - S1) >= 300 then,
Buy call at S1 and put at R1.
else
Do not trade at all.

Keep a target and SL in mind and maintain that strictly. Do not hold call or put after 20th of the month. If you are very sure that S1/R1 will be broken buy put at S1 and call at R1. Hope this helps.

Regards
Dear Ghoshji

This is my first post on the forum so please excuse if I am being repetitive.

I have been trading options for some time. NSE has introduced LONG_TERM NIFTY Options contracts. However, these do not seem enabled for trading in ICICI web trade. Altho I see from NSE web site that such long-term contracts are being regularly traded. Would you know of any other online trading platform which allows trading in long-term Options?

Thanks

Rakesh

Dear Optionstrader,

As said earlier, always trade with SL. Exit both RIL and Nifty put as market is moving northward and its nearing expiry.

Dear Friend,

I do not recommend taking a call based on news based event. If you are very sure then, you can buy call or put. technically it looks good even after today's fall. Regaing ITM, ATM or OTM you can refer to books on options. I prefer OTM or ATM over ITM. Because when OTM or ATM goes ITM it gives good return and if it doesn't go to ITM loss in comparison to ITM is less. This is based on my experience.

Regards

Dont worry about LongTermNifty Options. You havent lost anything and you couldnt have done anything. There are no volumes, and, the buy/sell quotes are wide apart even for at the money options (by a few hundred pts!).
