(a) I have wondered whether can any trader "SHORT SELL" any Call Option, say Nifty-5400-CE at the appropriate date (depending on market sentiment), and before 'Square-off-Date' can "BUY" back the same Nifty-5400-CE Call option and thus close the transaction. I am using ICICIdirect.com platform for trading purpose. What are the restrictions imposed on such trading in Option Trading ?
(b) Can you give me with an illustration where to put the Stop-Loss Price in between LTP and Limit Price both for BUY and SELL option trading. I have tried to put the SLTP in appropriate SLOT in Trading Page of ICICI but got message which is confusing and I could not understood those notings. Please help.
Dear Basab,

Thanks for your appreciations!

(a) Yes, youi can short and square off the option before expiry. There should be a buyer and seller whenever you execute the trade and your orders are as per SEBI guide lines.

(b) Please share those messages, though I have never used icicidirect for options trading, but I will try my best to help you out.

Regards

3.SELL 1 LOT OF CE 5500 @110

plz suggest ,should I go for this?

Dear Vineet,

Personally, I do not like writting options because its eat money. Please note that if you are not sure of your buy call/put then why not have a strict stop loss and exit. This way you are reducing your risks. Writting a call/put becomes dangerous when these trades go in reverse direction.

If you still want to go with your trade then, I suggest wait for budget event to be over and let market settle down first. Don't forget to keep a strict SL and exit all positions at the same time.

Its not important to trade every day, but its important to save your hard earned money every day.

Regards

Ghosh Sir,
I am very satisfied with your valuable suggestions on "Short Sell" of Option Call.
On the subject concern, I tried to get confirmation from my Online Trading service provider, NSE, and one famous foreign website but no body sent any reply. But appropriate answer I received is from you and in this Thread. Thanking you once again Sir,and I hope I will one day get my answer to the querry on placement of SLTP in between LTP and Limit Price, because we feel get losts in a volatile market when I cannot exercise my minimum control over my price-quote. Thank you Sir,
