Hello Billloo2000,
I have downloaded Options Oracle and it is running. But when I put the NSE symbel RELIANCE.NS for Reliance Industries for downloading option prices of Reliance, error message such as ` the symbol does not exist`. How and where to put this symbol for getting data ?

Kindly reply. Thank you
Mohan

I did test drive the software. Frankly it is better to have some data on IV or greeks than no data.

Here are the problems

1. They calculate IV on EOD prices- some of the series does not get traded everyday- so prices are stale and resultant IV and other calculations are suspect
2. NO consideration for Historical volatility- apparently the NSE servers do not store historical info- which is pathetic. Even on their website- when you pull up a stock option quote they are calculating dail volatility- and then annualizing that number. The practice for Historical volatility is to take a set of 50 or whatever is reasonable date - and come up with a volatility figure. The NSE figures will inflate Votality and god bless us all if everyone inputs it as the figure for pricing in the BS option pricing model

3. Not sure how they account for dividends- as there is no data entry/modification scheme

4. Not sure what Risk free Interest rates they are assuming- a 90 day Treasury rate is typically used ( govt. Debt)- but I understand they Use MIBOR in India- which is an interesting choice.

Atleast it gives me some measure of IV- and I have to manually look at the option chain- and figure out which series is Cheap or Inflated ( I had to do my own historical volatility claculations- to make that call- so making some progress!)

I really wish this thing could accoumdate a real time feed- atleast the IV and greeks will not be stale.
