Hi,

I am in search of a platform that could execute (Bank) Nifty options quickly. Can you please post the time taken by your platform for executing your order. Accompanied proof for the same (Server Log, Screen Shot, Order No.) is highly appreciated.

I hope after some time we will clearly know which broker or platform is advantageous for us and which broker is sleeping with our orders in their server

I don't think you will get consistent results.

I say this bcos have you tested the same thing on a single platform?

Your speed may greatly depend on the volume at that time and spreads.
If a large order queues up before yours at the exchange, what's that got to do with Broker.

I'd asked Z, but they didn't openly state it here, but there are congestion problems on irregular load days at NSE itself.
NSE has also been accused of preferential speeds for some specific clients.

To be accurate in basing your facts, you also need an a/c directly with NSE to tell the two apart which (cost-wise) I don't think retail trader can afford.

Wow! Thanks Ravi for your intelligent insights as always.

We really want an average execution speed.

A) Broker is intercepting the order in their server and then sending it to NSE

B) Broker is using NSE now at the client side.

C) Broker is intercepting the order in their server co-located with NSE's.

if we calculate the order execution time which one will be fast in the above. I am not talking about filling at all here.

I don know whether my reply is relevant here or not as i do not trade in options, but would like to add:

Time taken by my platform depends on:

1. State of CPU, I mean , when i used to run exploration scan in amibroker for every 10 sec, i witnessed an increase in time taken for order execution.
2. Mobile 3g data takes bit more time, than wired broadband.

So local factors, ie retail trader hardware has great influence in the order placement.
Once the order placed reaches broker, it is sent to NSE in an instant, unless unusual days.

with all odds against us, if we are using Atom processor and bsnl gsm 2G simm, then its better to ask another trader's account and transfer the money to him instead of trading

Ravi,

I did not understand.

In short, I want to find with which broker our order will reach the NSE server within the shortest period of time.

Lets assume, we are all sitting in one sub net and firing our order a the same time.

I am very much sure that Zerodha is not that broker especially if we are firing our orders from Kite or PI.

I think for Z, Omnesys is their EMS.
So margin calculation etc may be happening at client level and orders sent directly to Omnesys.
From their it goes to NSE Servers.

Its pretty complicated, until you don't have direct access its a bit dodgy.
Also remember, you need to test with NSE Direct data as well, what most brokers relay as data is also flawed which Z (& others) have admitted.

NSE tick-by-tick Leased Line data is offered for a hefty price.
On same subnet you might jump your friends order but not those placed in co-lo etc

I think they use timestamps of IP Packet data that will be in ms.
