Volatility at beginning of trading

#1
Today I bought an ATM straddle. When Nifty moved 60 points I sold it. Unfortunately, I made a loss! reason? When I bought, VIX had temporarily spiked. So I bought high and sold low.

I looked at the trade. It was at 9:25 am. My question is this - can I reduce such occurrences (reduce mind you, not eliminate) if rather that starting at 9.15 I start trading at 10:00?

All help is welcome

Think of it in reverse manner.

Think of selling. Then calculate.

First do paper trade. U will understand my thinking.
