Hi,

I have selected below funds to invest for long term. Can you please provide your valuable advice about my selection??

DSP BlackRock Top 100 Equity Fund - Direct Plan - Growth - 2000

HDFC Equity Fund - Direct Plan - Growth Option - 2000

HDFC Top 200 Fund - Direct Plan - Growth Option - 3000

IDFC Premier Equity Fund-Growth-(Direct Plan) - 4000

ICICI pru value discovery - 2000

SBI pharma - 1000 (seen good performance for last 5 yrs and ok to take risk for good return)

Regards,
Raghu.

I think i already replied to you earlier, these funds are fine and you can use them. Maybe i would say not to put extra in any fund - balance them out and maybe put less propertion in Midcap only funds. They already gave very good returns and that may not sustain. This is what Prashant Jain(HDFC) and former franklin guy says.

Also IDFC PE's fund manager has left, there should not be much short term impact but long term i dont know. New replacement is from within team so it probably will be similar as before.
With small tweaks, i would prefer below, i am not familiar with DSP funds and i assume you want to keep it and SBI One. All growth + Direct

DSP BlackRock Top 100 Equity Fund - 3000
HDFC Equity Fund OR HDFC Top 200 Fund - 3000
Franklin India Prima Plus - 3000 // Or any good Diversifed Equity Alternative

ICICI pru value discovery - 2000
IDFC Premier Equity Fund / HDFC Midcap / UTI Midcap - 2000
SBI pharma - 1000

Thank you for your valuable advice tracerbullet. One question, is sector fund good have ??
Avoid, unless you have domain expertise and can reasonably time entry and exit. Why not leave sector weight decisions on fund manager?
They might look tempting in short term but, as an extreme example, look at what happened to infra in previous crash.

Read this and this. Also starting reading articles/commentaries in these two blogs + morningstar.in. This will help you get more familiar with these things.
