Need to invest 50,000 in MF for 3-5 years

Hello,

I am ready to invest 50,000 in MF for 3-5 years and i have decided to break the amount in following MF.

Let me know what what do you think of this portfolio.

Birla Sun Life Top 100 Fund- 5,000.00
SBI Blue Chip 5,000.00
Axis Equity Fund 5,000.00
UTI Equity* 5,000.00
Tata Ethical Fund (G) 5,000.00
SBI Magnum Gilt - Long Term Plan 5,000.00
ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund* 5,000.00
ICICI Prudential Balanced Fund* 5,000.00
HDFC High Interest Fund - Dynamic Plan 10,000.00

Hi,

Your Portfolio Longs perfectly Balanced for a Long Term Investment of 5 Year Period.

40% in Equity
40% in Balanced
10% in Debt

Hi,

very nice attempt to design a portfolio.

Personally i think there are too many funds 9 in all. .

Before you design a portfolio or you decide to invest in funds be aware of
a) your risk profile
b) Is the money being invested to achieve any particular goal
c) time horizon( which in this case you are clear 3-5 year, my suggestion once you identify the ideal portfolio stick to it for 5 year. of course you must keep track how are the funds performing and make changes if necessary)

and please dont get me wrong when i said too many funds...its my view. AS i am of the strong opinion that ...have few funds but performing funds.

Too Much diversification may actually deter your returns.
