Can Robeco Eqty TaxSaver (G) 7500
Religare Tax Plan (G) 7500

Large Cap
UTI Opportunities Fund (G)
HDFC Top 200 Fund (G)
DSP-BR Top 100 Equity - RP (G)

Mid Cap
IDFC Premier Equity - A (G)
Birla SL Dividend Yield (G)

I have looked at the long ter performance of these funds which is good (3-5yrs)

You are going to invest in 14 funds? I have no comments about specific mutual funds, but I think your list is too big. Mutual funds are anyway diversified, and you diversifying into 15 funds is not called for.
#1. At the minimum, reduce one fund each from Large Cap + Mid Cap area bringing. Top 200 and Top 100 will probably give similar returns ... I do not think they are indexed, but they should be close to the index.
#2. Do you really need to invest in 2 gold schemes?
#3. ELSS - I think these are tax savers right? Unless there is a need to take the small tax benefit given by these, why would you do this?
** My understanding of ELSS / Top 200 is based on months old study of these and please do check before investing.

Hi Vikrant,

I agree with the previous comment on number of funds. Something, you should consider reducing upon.

As for your funds, I feel Tax saver funds will have to be re-thought about with DTC coming into picture. Maybe having 6-7 funds across different genres would help.

Good to see Gold in your portfolio. As for Debt, I don't follow Debt funds, but wanted to ask one question. Why not consider FDs as a debt option with the current high interest rates?

Happy Investing !!

Yes at max stick to at max or total 6 funds or less than that.

Remove ELSS as in DTC it will become irrelvant if DTC comes this year.If next year you can invest now and save taxes.

Regarding gold fund you can invest in it.I guess etf is better than gold traded fund as some load charges is more or gold trade fund invests in those etf which invests in etf.So its better to invest directly in gold etf.

Also take advice of good financial planner as you just cant decide MF straight. One needs to understands once financial position
