If you have account with CITI bank then you can purchase some good MF online, including SIP. But only problem with this approach is forcibly you need to enter SIP for 12 monhts.

Default How to purchase mutual funds online

I want to use CITIBANK for buying mutual funds online. I checked their website. They are asking to contact their Relationship manager in the following cases. Now I am staying outside India. I want to know whether it is mandatory to meet CItibank Relationship manager in the following cases.

You can use Citibank Online to invest in those Mutual Funds in which you already hold some units. However, if you have yet to subscribe into a particular fund you would need to fill in the documents required by the Fund houses. You may contact our Relationship Managers at the Citibank Branch closest to you.

Citibank offers you the facility to set up a Systematic Investment Plan. We request you to contact our Relationship Managers at the Citibank Branch closest to you, who would help you fill in the necessary documents.

I deal with a local MF agent in my hometown in India. He either emails me the paperwork or you can download the applications, put your signature on the apps. and mail it to him with a check. He would fill out the forms complete the Apps and email me the completed apps for my records. It works grea for me.

Hello Friends....

After going through icicidirect.com i found that this could be the best possible solution for online investment. They have about 19 MF AMC's under their umberalla and offers simple SIP system of investing.

The only hitch is that I have to open a savings bank account first and then register at icicidirect. Also 5000/- will be idle in SB account as the minimum amount to be kept. Already, I had to open another SB account in HDFC couple of month back for some other purpose.

Vicky : What online system you use please ?????

Thanks

JEET

I have one query for SBI magnum Tax saver or for any MF, please let me know "Is it mandatory to invest annualy in a mutual fund or just to invest once for three years

locking period?" because if we take ULIP policy then we have to invest three years annualy to keep the policy active, I think that should not be the case here, please suggest?
