Hi Raghu,

You have chosen some very good funds and I would like to appreciate you for the same. For aggressive returns, you need to have some mid-cap, multi-cap and small-cap flavor in your portfolio. In addition to the aforementioned funds, you can consider new investments in

HDFC Equity (Multi-cap)
Quantum Long term Equity (Multi-cap)
Franklin India Bluechip (Large-cap)
ICICI Pru-Discovery (Mid and Small Cap)
DSPBR Microcap (Mid and Small Cap)

You can consider suitable investments based on your portfolio goals.

Hi asterix24,

Thanks for your feedback.

As per your suggestion, I will take Franklin India Bluechip to my list. But I am not considering HDFC Equity & DSP since I am already have Funds which is managed by same Fund Manager.

I dont know much about Quantum but when I check Moneycontrol Fund list, it is not even rated and also AUM as 66.

So please find my final list,

HDFC Top 200 - 4000

DSP BlackRock Top 100 Equity Fund RP(G) - 2000

IDFC Premier Equity Fund - Plan A (G) - 3000

ICICI Pru Discovery Fund (G) - 2000

Franklin India Bluechip (Large-cap) - 2000

I would appreciate for any feedback.

Regards,
Raghu.

Hi Raghu,

Your new portfolio looks good. However, I feel there is a gap in terms of not having a multi-cap fund. HDFC Equity is one of the oldest and best funds you can get in this category. It is fine to have more than 1 fund from the same AMC if it's good.

I would definitely recommend you to add either HDFC Equity or Quantum LTE Equity which are decent bets in Multi-cap space. As for ratings, I would definitely advise to follow Value Research Online's ratings as this is one of the most commonly accepted and widely acknowledged benchmarks.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback ....

As per your advice, I am selecting the below list.

HDFC Top 200 - 4000

DSP BlackRock Top 100 Equity Fund RP(G) - 2000

IDFC Premier Equity Fund - Plan A (G) - 3000

ICICI Pru Discovery Fund (G) - 2000

HDFC Equity - 2000

I have one more doubt, I am planning for long period say 7-10 yrs. Should I need to review the portfolio very frequently or once in a year ?

Also what are the factors to be checked on reviewing my Portfolio ? Sorry for the simple questions, as I told you that am very new to MF. Please advice.

Regards,
Raghu

Hi Raghu,

Your questions are very valid and genuine questions and should be asked by one and all.

My recommendation is to review your portfolio atleast once a year. So start a SIP for a year and then review. The factor would be mainly performance. How did your funds do against some of it's peers?

Do note that these funds fall in different categories. Hence, one should compare the funds' performance with their benchmark too.

Most of your funds are long-term performing funds and you shouldn't have a problem with the same. In any case, do review and churn if necessary.

Happy Investing !!
