I want your valuable opinion on my portfolio.

I am presently innvesting 23000 a month and am open to invest another 7000.

My present portforlio consists of

DSP-BR Top 100 --> Rs 5000
DSP-BR Micro Cap --> Rs 5000
Canara Robeco Equity Diversified --> Rs 5000
HDFC Equity --> Rs 5000
Reliance Banking --> Rs 3000

All are with growth option. I want to invest in gold. But i do not have a demat acc hence i cannot invest in an ETF. I was not too happy about Reliance Gold Saving Fund. Can anyone please comment on Quantum Gold fund.

Hi Pavan,

Your choice of funds are good. However, any specific reason why you have invested into Reliance Banking, with the same being a sectoral fund. From your choice, it appears that you are heavily convinced about banking. However, there are many funds which have significant amounts of investment into Banking sector.

As a thumb-rule, I would definitely suggest you to consider this decision, unless you are convinced of the risk vs rewards ratio and rationale behind the investment.Your current investment strategy is as below:

5000 Large Cap
5000 Mid & Small cap
5000 Large & Mid cap
5000 Multi-cap
3000 Banking

If you are planning to switch out of Banking, I would definitely recommend adding another Large & Mid cap (if you are young and can handle the risk) or a Balanced fund into your portfolio. Otherwise, you current holdings are excellent.

Happy Investing !!

Hi Asterix,

Thank you for your reply.

The whole reason for going into banking was to get into some sectorial action. I am open to going into another large/mid cap. I do not want to go for HDFC 200 as it is very similar to DSP Top 100 in its allocation.

I am open to any suggestions.

Hi Pavan,

To keep your preference to Banking, I would suggest you to consider either Fidelity Equity or Franklin India Prima Plus as the Large and Mid cap. Both of these funds have very close 25% portfolio in financial sector which should augur well for your aspirations too.

Happy Investing !!
