best mid/small cap MF

#1
folks,
I have been investing in the below MF's as SIP 7000 rs in each total 28000 rs per month for last 1 year

1) HDFC top 200
2) DSPBR top 100
3) Birla sunlife frontline equity A
4) Reliance growth

I want to replace Reliance growth with another Mid/small cap MF. I have tried for IDFC premier MF . it is not allowing SIP these days.

Can you suggest good MF on this space ?,

any recommendation on the portfolio makeover is appreciated .

Thanks
Suresh

Hi Suresh,

Your portfolio is fantastic. For Mid & Small cap oriented fund, you can consider either ICICI Pru Discovery or DSPBR Microcap fund. These 2 are the foremost choices and HDFC Mid-cap Opportunities would be the next choice.

Happy Investing !!

Thanks astrix, bets performaing mid/small cap MF returns are not exeeding the major cap MF over long term say > 5 years . in that case why to invest in midcap MF . ?. Can i choose one more bluechip MF

You can instead choose a good multi cap fund like quantum Long Term Equity, since you don't want to venture into pure mid cap play.

Else, you can increase allocation to your existing funds.

yep , can i skip mid cap fund ?

invest 10k rs in hdfc top 200, dspbr top 100, bsf equity a .

my feeling is not a single mid cap MF beaten the large cap MF in long run .
why to take risk investing in midcap mf.

is it fine t go with 3 MFS . for 3Ok is every month.
or one more large cap MF need.

Thanks for the advise

It is absolutely fine to split the 30K amongst the existing 3 funds. Both HDFc Top 200 and Birla Frontline take exposure to mid caps to a small extent.

Hi. Even I have ongoing SIP in Reliance Growth but the future isn't looking bright owing to its Large asset size. What do u suggest is the best way to switch to other fund.
Should I redeem all at once at put in some Liquid fund and do STP thereafter
or do u suggest systematic withdrawal.
and What happens to amount which is in for less than a year, do I hv to pay exit charges on that.
Cheers.

liquid funds are not doing well as interest rates have risen.
i will be switching to other funds.

if u exit before 1 year yeah you have tax liability under capital gains !
