Mutual Fund and TDS Charge

I am an NRI. I have invested in AIG world Gold fund in April 2007.
On April 2010 i moved my broker to online FUNDS India.

I tried to sell the fund through the FundsINdia and i got an email from AIG saying Rs 550 was deducted as TDS Charge.

Here is my question.
1) Whats the TDS Charge?
2) IS it because i am an NRI i am charged?
3) Since i moved the fund to a new broker(Funds India) on April 2010, whats my investment date now for the fund. Is it April 2007 or April 2010.

yes , for nri's there is TDS. and as regards to change in date of investment , if you have only changed the broker then there would not be any change, however if you have done any other transaction with your investment like switch then there would be change in date
